busted and rusted

We purchased this refrigerator about 5 years ago. It was wonderful for the first year, then things started breaking at regular intervals. First to go was the large side shelf. It cracked and we were able to glue and tape it back together. Then the tracks for the vegetable drawer broke. By year 3 the front of the freezer door started to rust right below the water dispenser. In all, almost every shelf in the refrigerator has broken, 2 of the door shelves broke and the freezer door is rusted. All of this happened after the manufacture's warranty was up. You may pay less money for this refrigerator than most, but you pay more in the end for an inferior product.

This is my second Samsung fridge. The first one died under warranty. The second one is working perfectly, but in less than 3 years it starts showing rust in the ice maker area! And Samsung just says it isn't cover under warranty so there's nothing they can do. So frustrating to spend more than $15k remodeling the kitchen and this is just happening. :-(

This product is perfect for a family with plenty of shelf space and large pockets on the doors. I love the drawers in the freezer compartment. I bought it specifically because of its counter depth and it fits great, without blocking the walking path. The digital display is a great feature and I can even adjust temperatures if I will be away, and if I forget, I can do it on the app!

I've only had this refrigerator for a short time, but so far I'm very pleased. The space is well laid out, it's well lit, and cooling seems even and efficient. The only things I would change is to make the vegetable drawers open further and to provide liners for the door bins. I would also prefer coated wire shelves vs. glass shelves in the freezer, as the glass can get slippery, but some shelf liner can help with that. I did a lot of comparison shopping and this refrigerator seemed to offer the best value overall in its price range. As long as it continues to perform well, I will be happy.

few quirks that could use improvements

I purchased this 'frig in Jan 2016. I was glad to find a 'frig with the features in this product: counter-depth, white, in-door icemaker, good lighting with the LED tower. The icemaker is slow to dispense and slow to make ice and fill the bin-very poor performing icemaker. If you need lots of ice in a hurry, you'll have to buy. it won't refill by the next day. the vegetable drawers do not pull out all the way, so it is difficult to get large items in/out of the drawers-poor design. Wish te water filter was not at the top back corner-hard to reach and gets in the way of containers. At the bottom as in many other 'frig, seems much better place.

refrigerator was delivered with door blemish

The refrigerator was delivered with a small. but noticeable, manufacturer's crease in the door. The delivery/installers noticed the blemish as they unpacked the refrigerator on the delivery truck. The retailer, Lowe's/ is to make arrangements to have a new door installed. Despite the blemish, the refrigerator is excellent for my needs.

My wife and I really like the Samsung refrigerator. It was a little pricey, but so far, worth the money we paid. It is very quiet when running and has many great features. I like the fact that it is Energy Star rated. My only complaint so far is in the area of leveling. When it was delivered by Lowes, the guys put it in place - and walked away. No leveling was done. I read later in the manual that the refrigerator had to be level in order to work correctly. The manual made it clear, and it was later verified by Customer Support, that you could level it side to side but not front to back. That means the floor must be perfectly level, or you are out of luck. Over the years (our house was built in 1976), some settling has occurred and there is about a quarter of an inch difference in the floor from where the front and back of the refrigerator sits. That makes it out of plumb about an inch from bottom to top. The only way to level this refrigerator front to back appears to by to figure out a way to raise the back using shims etc. If the front wheels could be lowered slightly, this problem would be solved. That should not cost very much during production.

Love the "extras" on this refrigerator

I really like the wine rack and the little extra place for soft drinks! Easy to find the food....doesn't get "lost" in the back of the fridge. The ice maker makes a high pitched "whine" when it's filling with water but we don't use a lot of ice and it only lasts 30 seconds or so. The ice has a hard time getting started but again....it's not that big a deal for us. The chilled water dispenser works great and it's easy to fill different size containers. And....I just love how it looks. If it's as reliable as it is good looking this will be well worth it. The counter depth looks much more "high end" than the ones that stick way out into the kitchen.
